Most bad Wi-Fi isn't a broadband problem — it's a router sat in the worst possible spot, thick walls, and a house too big for one box to cover. I'll measure what you're actually getting in each room, then fix it with the right combination of moving the router, hardwiring where it counts, and adding mesh units only where they'll genuinely help.

Wi-Fi — the usual questions

Do I need a mesh system or will a booster do?

Depends on the house, and it's worth measuring before spending. Plug-in boosters halve your speed and create a second network your phone won't switch to properly — they're a false economy in most houses. A proper mesh, or better still an access point on a cable, does the job far better.

My broadband is fast but my Wi-Fi is slow. Why?

Because they're two different things. The speed into the house is one thing; getting it across the house through brick walls, foil-backed plasterboard and a router in a cupboard is another. That second part is nearly always where the problem is.

Can you get Wi-Fi to the garden office or garage?

Yes, and it's a job I do a lot. Usually the right answer is a proper cable out there feeding an access point, which gives you full speed rather than whatever leaks through the walls. Where a cable genuinely can't go, there are decent wireless options.

Will you use the router my provider gave me?

If it's up to the job, yes — no point buying kit you don't need. Some provider routers are genuinely fine now. If yours is the limiting factor I'll tell you what to get and set it up for you.
